Tequyra Hammie Elected SGA Vice President, Clementine Soto Elected Executive Secretary for 2026-2027 Academic Year

Tequyra Hammie has been elected vice president of the Montclair State University Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2026-2027 academic year. Hammie will succeed the 2025-2026 vice president, Carmela Beitler.

Hammie gained the victory with 397 votes out of undergraduate voters, with 73 abstaining from voting and 41 voting no confidence.

This years special SGA elections also determined the results for executive secretary of the 2026-2027 academic year.

Clementine Soto secured the win, with 310 votes out of undergraduate voters. Nicolas Cardozo Rojas came in second place with 195 votes. 2 abstained from voting and voted 4 no confidence.

Soto will succeed the 2025-2026 executive secretary, Edlyn Eugene.

Students of Montclair State have elected their peers for 2026-2027 SGA executive board. Those results are as follows:

    • Ben Coulson elected as Executive President
    • Tequyra Hammie elected as Executive Vice President
    • Clementine Soto elected as Executive Secretary
    • Lea Spasic elected as Executive Treasurer
    • Miriam Awwad elected as Board of Trustees Student Representative
