The New Jersey Press Foundation (NJPF) awarded The Montclarion with seven first place awards followed by one second place award and two third place awards in the statewide college newspaper contest. New Year Brings New Minimum Wage Increase to $11 an Hour

New Jersey passed a bill to increase workers’ minimum wage from $10 to $11 an hour in 2019, and it was officially enforced on Jan. 1. of the new year. The minimum wage is also set to increase yearly by one dollar an hour until 2024, when it will reach and remain at $15 an hour. Recurring Candy Scam on Campus

The student body has been notified of two men approaching students on campus for donations to a non-existent charity in exchange for candy as part of a recurring scam. On Oct. 2, at approximately 2:40 p.m in the Student Center Quad near the Center for Computing and Information Science building, a student was approached by two men who scammed him into donating money to their fictional charity. Professors Now in Control of Final Exam Time as Finals Week is Eliminated

The standard final exam week at the end of each semester has officially been eliminated from the academic calendar. As a result of this initiative, professors will be allowed to choose when their exams take place. The new policy requires final exams to take place during regular class sessions, rather than designating the last week of the semester for final exams. Students Lined Up With Excitement at SLAM’s Spring Week Casino Night

Lines of students filled up the Student Center Ballroom at Student Life at Montclair’s (SLAM) Casino Night Event this past Monday.
