A 64-year-old woman was struck by a car tonight while crossing Normal Avenue near the President’s House.
At approximately 6:40 p.m., Montclair State University Police Department (UPD) and Montclair Township Police Department both received calls regarding the incident and responded to the scene immediately. Clifton Police Department also responded to the incident.
Montclair State University EMS arrived shortly and cared for the woman, who complained of back and hip pain, according to Captain Kieran Barrett, spokesman for UPD. The driver who allegedly struck the woman remained at the scene of the incident.
Barrett confirmed that the woman was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, where she is currently being cared for.
Police are still investigating the cause of the incident as well as the details surrounding the case, the second incident of a pedestrian being struck on campus in the current academic year.
