Montclair State University honored the ninth president of Montclair State, Jonathan Koppell, with a presidential investiture on Thursday, Sept. 15. This historic moment celebrated Koppell’s first year leading the university.
The day began with a campus festival that promoted different organizations and clubs.
At the opening of the investiture, dancers performed at the Amphitheater.
The Student Government Association (SGA), speakers, presidents and representatives of other universities, along with local and county elected officials, were led by Grand Marshal Sandra Adams, holding the university mace. Former presidents Susan Cole and Irvin Reid were also in attendance.
Later on that day, the formal investiture ceremony took place in Memorial Auditorium, where Koppell was then officially honored as Reid placed the university-chained medallion on him.
The day closed off with a campus-wide reception following the ceremony.
