The Montclair State University men’s soccer team continued their winning streak against Hunter College, in a comfortable 7-0 home win on Sept. 8. The Red Hawks were led by sophomores Gene Carlo Altamirano and Michael Casper, who respectively had two goals and three assists.
Montclair State was able to set the pace early on with their opener coming in the 14th minute by freshman Reed Karsen. The Red Hawks continued to press forward causing trouble for Hunter College’s defense, grabbing two more goals and causing an own goal to round out the half.
Head coach Todd Tumelty’s group was firing on all cylinders with five different names on the scorecard, including two goals in a one-minute span in the second half. Freshman Christian Bernal closed out the win with a goal in the 80th minute, his first of the season.
