Rain Before The Rainbow

by Kaitlin Swift

A harsh storm ripped up the wistful past;

all of what was sure, drawn off to the shores,

the houses built, the blueprints stored,

are now left in the before.

A tornado blew, and now it’s true.

You can’t go back to before.

The rain washed away

the dawn of the day;

Let’s see what the world has in store.

The creations forged are not lost,

their legacies still in the ground.

At first, they may have seemed lost,

but new opportunities are found.

There is always rain before the rainbow,

a gust of wind, the falling of sleet.

Run outside, shout and screet,

a euphoric “Forevermore!”

One storm cannot stop the brightness.

No matter how strong the devastation caused,

colors will shine bright, across the nation.

Let them keep glowing,

keep going.

There’s always rain before the rainbow.
