Thursday, Sept. 17 marked the official opening of the newest dining venue at Montclair State University, the refurbished Student Center Cafe.
The Cafe is located on the second floor of the Student Center and is the first redesign of the venue since its initial construction in 1972 as a place for faculty and students alike.
Along with the new design, the cafe has a significant amount of additional space, which has allowed for an expansion of the area where food is sold, while also giving students more flexible seating arrangements.
The cafe offers different types of cuisine to choose from, including the Tex-Mex California Tortilla station, Asian-fusion chain Panda Express, Grill Nation, where classic burgers can be found,Olo Sushi and a Dunkin Donuts Express.
This eatery provides a variety of different types of foods from around the world in order to give the campus community more options for meals throughout the day. The Cafe also has more options for people with dietary restrictions, making it more accessible for the community at Montclair State University.
Jenny Cajuste, an undeclared freshman, ate at the Student Center Cafe before she started attending this school, when the renovations were still being planned out. According to Cajuste, “I haven’t eaten the food here yet today because the line has been really long, but it looks so much better than it did when we were here for Student Orientation.”
Although the seating area is still under construction, the Cafe should be finished soon and offer an updated space for students to eat and congregate in the Student Center.
