Best Movie of 2015: Star Wars The Force Awakens

It was a perfect reboot movie for the Star Wars franchise and it was the best movie I’ve seen in a long time. The film had the nostalgia of the old characters and simultaneously established new, exciting characters. We got a little taste of the story, but there’s still so much to find out in the upcoming movies. J.J. Abrams successfully captured the Star Wars “feel” and left the franchise in good hands moving forward. I’ve seen it twice in theaters already and I can’t wait to go again and see it a third time.

Best TV Show of 2015: Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is in a league of its own, but Mr. Robot was the best new show of 2015. Elliot Alderson, played fantastically by Rami Malek, is a vigilante hacker and struggles to separate delusions from reality. The show feels like a cross between A Beautiful Mind and Fight Club. There’s a character, incredibly brilliant but delusional, who sees a vast conspiracy behind society and wants to bring it all down. Every episode of it’s debut season is fast-paced and takes viewers on many twists and turns along the way.

Best Montclarion Article of 2015: Parking at Montclair State: It’s All Packed Here”

It was the best article that the paper has done since I’ve been here. Everyone knows parking is a problem at Montclair State and this article takes an in-depth look at all the contributing factors. The illustration that was on the front page along with the article was an awesome drawing poking fun in the situation. Additionally, the article featured a time lapse of trying to get out of Car Parc. Hopefully, parking will get better in the future, but I won’t hold my breath.

Best Montclair State Moment of 2015:

By far, the women’s basketball team making it to the Final Four was the best Montclair moment of 2015. I was fortunate enough to travel to Grand Rapids to cover it for the The Montclarion, but watching the team is exciting in and of itself. I was able to write a profile on head coach Karin Harvey earlier in the year and from then, I started to get to know a little about the team and follow them through the NJAC tournament to the Final Four. It was an exciting run and I was happy to be there for it.
