The Men’s Ice Hockey team defeated Bryant University 7-3 on Saturday Oct. 29. The team’s record is now 6-2-1-2, and with two points gained on Saturday, the Red Hawks now have a total of 15 points on the season.
As the first period began, No. 28, Sam Enright, put one behind Bryant’s goalie only three minutes in and put Montclair State up on the board holding a 1-0 lead. After Enright’s goal, Bryant scored against Montclair State goalkeeper Bradley Odgers. With the score 1-1, the Red Hawks did not slow down, scoring three more goals during the first period. Enright was credited another goal, along with Evan Calendrillo and Sal Demarzo. The period ended 4-1 and the Red Hawks looked strong going into the second.
During the second period, penalties were exchanged between the two teams but that did not set the Red Hawks back as Enright celebrated with a hat trick, thanks to the assist from teammates Demarzo and Chris Perziosi. About two minutes after Enright’s hat trick, Matthew Dreisbach scored, boosting the lead to 6-1. Bryant still remained optimistic as they saw the Red Hawks celebration and retaliated with a goal, ending the second period 6-2.
As the third period was underway, both teams totaled eight penalties within 20 minutes. Bryant University ended up scoring, adding a goal to the board for 6-3. Soon after Bryant’s goal, Preziosi triumphantly netted a goal of his own to finalize the score at 7-3.
