“The Performer” by Jay Garcia

by Jay Garcia

I sit still, frozen because of your presence

I’m a statue

Am I alive?

You walked across the stage with confidence

I watched you perform with every bit of energy in your body being poured out before us

I’m in awe, you have me in the palm of your hand

My eyes are locked onto you

The whole world is blurry, yet you’re the only clear thing in front of me

You take a bow after the show

I’m hypnotized

I can’t even applaud, I’m still under your spell

I don’t think I want to snap back to reality

Reality is ugly, I don’t want it to stain your pristineness

You walk off

I finally get up, no longer under the spell of your pendulum

I’m alive
